Thetford and District Dementia Support Group (TADDS) began with a simple goal: to bring people together. It all started on 25th July 2014, when we held our first group meeting in the meeting area of a sheltered housing complex. The space was quickly outgrown, and we moved to Cloverfields Community Church Hall, where we have continued to thrive ever since.
The idea behind TADDS came from Joanne Mountjoy-Dixon, an experienced Dementia Lead, who saw how little support was available locally for people living with dementia and their carers. Back in 2012, Joanne started a group called “Dementia Action Thetford & District” to provide the help that was so desperately needed. That initial idea grew into what we now know as TADDS – a safe and friendly space where people can meet, share, and feel valued.
Our group meets every Friday from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at Cloverfields Community Church Hall, and everyone is welcome – whether you’re living with dementia, caring for someone who is, or supporting a family member.
